Alison and Garath would like to extend a friendly, family welcome to our Guest House and wish that you enjoy your time with us in Whitby. If you have any questions or would like to raise anything with us during your stay, please do come and talk to us. If we’re not in, you can always phone us on 07825303322. We moved here in June 2017 and reopened The Lansbury to guests in July 2017. As The Lansbury is both our business and our home, we would kindly ask that you respect it and your fellow guests by keeping noise to a minimum, especially if returning late at night.
The information in this booklet is designed to help you have your perfect stay with us in Whitby.

Keyless entry system
We’ve installed a Samsung keyless entry system on our front doors. To operate please follow the instructions below. If the locks fail to open, give it another go.
When coming into the house
When leaving the house
Each room is equipped with a flat screen TV and a Sky HD digi-box. These show the Freesat Channels offered by Sky TV – not all listed channels on the system will be available.
To operate the TV and access channels
The TV remote is needed to turn the television on/off and alter the volume.
The TV is set to ‘HDMI-1’
Using the Sky TV remote to select channels
- Press the blue Sky button to turn on the digi-box
- Press ‘TV Guide’ to access channel list
- Scroll to preferred channel and press select to watch
Tea & Coffee making facilities
Each room contains a hospitality tray with a kettle. In the tray you will find sachets of coffee, decaf-coffee, hot chocolate, milk, tea bags, biscuits and water. This will be refreshed when the rooms are serviced. If you require any extra of these items, please let us know.
The bedside clock radio is available and can be used as an alarm. Whilst we make every effort to ensure it will not go off unless you set it, we would advise that you check it is turned off and not on auto before you go to sleep!
Guest rooms will be serviced between 10.30am & 11.30 pm daily. Please use the ‘Do not disturb’ sign if you do not require your room to be serviced or would like to be left in peace.
If you require fresh towels, please place the towels you wish replacing into the shower cubicle. However, we ask that you consider the environment and only request changes when necessary.
Check-out is by 10.30am. Please ensure you have collected all your belongings as you leave your room and hand in your keys to Garath or Alison. If items are left in rooms, we will endeavour to contact you and will keep them for up to 3 months.
After your stay we would welcome your feedback via our own guest survey (which will be emailed to the bookers email address) or via Google or TripAdvisor. Please visit our website, www.thelansburywhitby.co.uk, for the best prices next time you wish to stay.
We would ask guests not to eat any ‘take-away’ food in their bedrooms.
For your safety and comfort, this is a strictly NO-SMOKING establishment throughout – if you wish to smoke, please do so outside. There is an ashtray on the railings for smokers to use. Our rooms are fitted with highly sensitive smoke detectors. If guests are found to be smoking in the building they will be asked to leave without a REFUND & be charged up to £100 for additional cleaning.
Please respect your fellow guests by keeping any noise to a minimum, especially if returning late at night.
Please place all rubbish into the bins provided to be removed when rooms are serviced.
When leaving your room, to save energy and help the environment, please turn off the lights (especially in the en-suite as these have fans that operate with the lights) and turn down your radiator.
Please use the bags provided to dispose of any sanitary products and ensure that only toilet paper is flushed down the toilet. Charges will occur for any blockage. Extra toilet rolls are provided in the bathroom cabinet.
We would appreciate it if you could remove muddy footwear before entering the house.
In the event of breakages, damage or the need for additional cleaning you will be charged replacement, repair or extra cleaning costs incurred.
